Although they have many years of work experience many of my clients tell me that they don't really know what their skills are. Perhaps they've become competent using at using a skills but they wouldn't neccesarily say that they enjoy using it. Then there's the question of hidden skills. What if there was a skill you'd love to use, if only you knew what it was!
Having a knowledge of your skills can benefit you in 3 ways:
1. It will give your job search more purpose and direction because you will be able to clearly match requirements of a job application with what you can offer.
2. You can also talk confidently at interviews, giving clear examples of how you've used those skills in the past
3. Renewed enthusiasm and confidence can be gained from knowing that you have much to offer, even if it's in a totally different field.
But how can you identify these skills in the first place? Well I've developed an online skills card sort which will enable you to identify not only the skills you have but the skills you actually enjoy using. To find out how it all works, click here.
