I spent yesterday morning at Lewes Prison, speaking to staff about the issues facing inmates on release. I was told of a former inmate who had been a taxi driver all his life before being sent to prison. However, during his time there he studied and developed a real passion for computers. By the time he was released he became proficient in software development and is now running his own software business.
Sometimes it takes a major incident in one's life before positive change happens. Someone once said that people are like tea bags. You don't know what they're capable of until you put them in hot water. Many people I have come across who had been made redundant have now taken a new career direction, following their passion.
Is your passion lying dormant, waiting for a major life change to be woken up? Think. What do you really want to do? Will you look back in years to come and regret your career path?
