If you're feeling trapped in a dead end job it can be a lonely place. You can often get the impression that other people are clear about where their career is going.
Sometimes it helps to know that you are indeed not alone.
So I've put together some of the career stories that have led people to contact me for support:
“I am an English Animation Director based in Los Angeles. I am not currently working for a studio or company. I would like to utilize my artistic ability in a way that frees me from working solely in Animation. I would also like to have the option of working in England. I would like to be on the path to achieve this within 6 months.” Eddie
“I am enquiring about some coaching for my son in law. He doesn't seem to know how to set realistic goals to advance himself or how to go about achieving them. As a consequence he feels he is letting himself and his family down.” Alison
“I've been working in PR for four years after completing a corporate graduate scheme and I don't feel I've made the right career choice. I don't get much satisfaction from my job and, while I'm paid quite well, I don't feel challenged or enthusiastic about my work. I don't have the passion or motivation that I know I could in the right role - but I think I need help in understanding the right direction to take.” Josh
“I’m employed, currently working as a sales consultant/Browtician. I would like guidance on starting a new career. I would ideally like to achieve this as soon as possible, however as i am currently employed I am happy to take the time to find the right job.” Sasha
“ Tom is a bright capable boy with an interesting background who has not done as well as he would like at school (but does have 3 AS levels and maybe a couple of A levels - results on Thursday) and who is at a loss to know what to do next. I think he is feeling very confused and probably pressured. Amy's mum suggested that you might be able to help him sort his ideas out and give him some purposeful direction.” Geraldine
“I took voluntary redundancy from the civil service in April after 16 yrs. This was for a variety of reasons: to reduce my commute, re-connect with the city I live in and to try a different direction and do something that I would enjoy, feel confident in doing and work to my strengths (the opposite of how my last job made me feel). However, I'm feeling paralysed by the opportunity, uncertain what role to take (to avoid just taking in an identical job), and therefore unclear how to move forward. I'm feeling almost institutionalised by my last job. I'm seeking expert help and guidance, and someone to challenge me to try things.” Alan
“Since graduating from university in 2013 with a first class honours I've found it very hard to settle and find something which I want to pursue long term as a career. I'm a very driven person but feel totally lost as to what career to go into and it's starting to make me very unhappy. I have a job currently which is helping me keep afloat financially but I'm keen to get some real advice and direction so that I can finally find a career.” Tom
