If you're serious about finding work you love, it's not enough to simply put together a CV and hope for the best. You need to be proactive. LinkedIn is the perfect platform for taking a proactive approach to job searching in the sector that appeals to you most.
On LinkedIn, you're able to target specific employers and employees and then to get networking, building relationships with people who can get you from where you are to where you want to be. In addition, recruiters can find you if you've got the right key words that they would be searching for in your profile.
Your LinkedIn profile is your ideal opportunity to tell the world how wonderful you are. The beauty of the profile is that you can use it to express your personality in a more informal way than you can in your CV. So if you want to ensure that your LinkedIn profile is attractive to recruiters, you need to ensure that it answers the following questions.....
1. What are your best specific achievements? For example, "I increased sales by x%...., I instigated....I was awarded for......" Remember that these don't need to be work related (you may be a recent graduate or a returning mum). Perhaps you could reflect on a recent gap year.
2. What are your best non-work related achievements which reflect your character?
3. What are your specialities?
4. What are you passionate about?
5. What inspires you?
6. What do you do better than most?
7. What do you do differently to others?
8. What are your best skills?
9. Who/what type of person are you looking to connect with?
10. What should the reader do if they want to contact you?
And if you're not sure what your best skills are (question 8), you can complete the online skills card sort.
